An important message from Payal Patel concerning books for the M3 year:
During the M3 workshop week we had the current M3's rate all the books they used for each rotation. Thanks to your curriculum reps (Erin, Julie, Emily, Payal, and Ali) we compiled all the data on each book to let you guys know what they thought was most useful! Hopefully you guys find this helpful, and if you have any questions please email me at patelps@vcu.edu.

Ben Orr Memorial Scholarship from the Class of 2009
At the end of last semester we decided to fundraise $1000.00 to be given to a rising M2 student in honor of Ben Orr, our classmate who died of cancer. Ultimately we planned and executed a very successful fundraiser and raised more money than we originally thought possible. We were very pleased with the tremendous outpouring of support that was shown by students and faculty alike toward our fundraiser and are proud to announce that we were able to raise $1600.00 to fund the creation of this scholarship and we would like to once again thank all those who supported us.
Note: Pictured are the Class of 2009 Officers presenting Dean Strauss and Dr. Wood with the check to fund the scholarship.
Food Drive for Dialysis Patients
Lucia Smith (our community service chair) along with Jimmy Sismanis organized a food drive for dialysis patients during the end of last semester; we also collected food at our holiday party. Ultimately over 50 bag lunches were assembled that contained breakfast cereals, condensed milk and a low sodium meat w/ one or two drinks. The lunches were then given to low income patients that came to the dialysis center.

October 2005
As a class we raised about $400 for the "Light the Night" program to help give hope to people with blood cancers. Thanks so much to Steve for your excellent organizing and fundraising efforts and to all who donated time and/or money to this worthy cause!
Also, our clothing drive was a huge success. We donated a total of 325.9 lbs of clothes, which will be distributed to those in need in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Thanks to Rishi for organizing this great service project, and to Lesli, Brian, and Shilen for your time in loading and mailing off the clothes. Thanks to all who donated!
