Surgery

Misc tips:

Use Recall to help you review before going into an OR case. There's an audio version available for purchase you can use to review in car / while walking. Also there's a PDA version.

Study Medicine in addition to Surgery -- this will help with the rotation & with the Shelf.

There's a PDA version of Netters called Netter's AFC 1.2 that can be a helpful resource for preparing for a surgery case while on the fly.

A good general tip for the rotation (and probably for all rotations) is to be super aware of the environment you're in -- small things like adjusting the lighting in a patient's room, handing the resident some gloves, or having tape/scissors/dressings ready are really appreciated and noticed!

In general, try to make life easier for your intern or resident, and they may reward you later with some quick teaching.
